‘One Punch Man’ Live-Action Film in Development from ‘Venom’ & ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Screenwriters

Earlier today, Variety reported that Sony Pictures is developing a new live-action film based on the manga One Punch Man with screenwriters Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner tackling the script. Rosenberg and Pinkner are best known for their work on the screenplay of Venom. They’ve also worked on the upcoming Cowboy Bebop series for Netflix (Season 2 in development stages), Con Air, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the last two Jumanji films.

The manga series, created in 2009 as a web-comic by ONE, follows Saitama – a superhero with a powerful punch that got sick of winning all his battles against evil and starts the search of a worthy opponent. In 2015 it was published in English and his first volume made the New York Times manga bestsellers list.

One Punch Man also got an anime TV series and video games. Check out the trailer for the anime series below.

Arad Productions will also produce the film.

We hope to see more live-action anime and manga adaptations in the future! Are you excited? Tell us in the comments below!
