Samuel L. Jackson is adding yet another franchise to his resume, with the actor joining Chris Rock in the upcoming Saw reboot. Rock plays a police detective investigating a series of grizzly crimes, and Jackson will play the detective’s father. As production begins, Lionsgate also revealed Monday that other cast members will include Max Minghella as Rock’s partner William Schenk, and Marisol Nichols as Rock’s boss, Capt. Angie Garza.
Jackson has been known to take roles in various genre pics along with massive Marvel Studios movies including the recent hits Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Filming was expected to begin today in Toronto and wrap on August 26th.
The film is being directed by SAW II’s Darren Bousman with a production team that includes cinematographer Jordan Oram and production designer Tony Cowley.
The untitled film is being given a release date of October 23rd, 2020 by Lionsgate.
