Mad Max: Fury Road was a cultural landmark action film earning 10 Oscar-nominations, winning six awards. Writer-director George Miller had promised he would make more movies as he penned two more movies. A lawsuit from George Miller against Warner Bros. for a $7 million bonus owed to him for delivering Mad Max: Fury Road had previously stalled the progress of those sequels.
However, Fandango’s Erik Davis has now posted a rumor on his Twitter account that alludes Mad Max may ride again and those sequels might see the light of day after all.
“So WORLD WAR Z 2 is officially dead and not happening… BUT… I’m hearing whispers of another sequel that’s beginning to rev its engines…”

Both Tom Hardy and Furiosa’s Charlize Theron have stated they’re open to reprising their roles. There is a good chance the sequels could explore Gas Town and the Bullet Farm, the two other factions that were aligned with Immortan Joe’s Citadel.
We’ll stay hopeful that something could come together but he’s expected to make his original film A Thousand Years of Longing next that will star Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton.
Years after the collapse of civilization, the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot’s five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland.
