A new rumor from DiscussingFilm suggests that Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) is currently in talks after directing episodes of The Mandalorian for Lucasfilm, to return for their upcoming Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk.
However, they’re quick to point out it’s early as it’s simply an offer, nothing is finalized and it may not actually come together. Being cautious about early details is never a bad thing.
It sounds like Rick has impressed Kathleen Kennedy and the folks over at Lucasfilm to potentially give him another Star Wars property to tackle.
Lucasfilm is handling the production of the series as they did with The Mandalorian with it airing on Disney’s streaming service Disney+, which will launch on November 12th.
The assumption is that this Cassian Andor prequel series will begin shooting this fall and likely drop on Disney+ in the fall of 2020.
If it does begin shooting this fall we’ll likely start getting some casting information either at D23 Expo next month or not too soon afterward.
