Earlier in the week, we got our first official glimpse of Dune but today we get a wave of new images including first looks at multiple characters in the film.
Vanity Fair has dropped a bunch of new images from Legendary’s Dune feature film adaptation from Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve. These images focusing more on House Atreides and their allies the Fremen, the native population of the desert planet Arrakis aka Dune.
We see Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, the mother of Paul Atreides played by Timothee Chalamet. Essentially the two main leads of the film. Not to mention first looks at Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Jason Mamoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Zendaya as Chani, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Liet Kynes.
Zendaya also added this other image of herself in the film as Chani on her social media accounts.
The Frank Herbert novels were a direct inspiration for the Star Wars movies, to the point I believe Star Wars fans are going to have a rude awakening to how much George Lucas and other directors have lifted from the source material.
DUNE – A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
Warner Bros. has originally planned on releasing Dune on December 18th, but it remains to be seen if they’ll be sticking to that date as some other Warner Bros. films may have to take that spot.
