Netflix recently made a big push to crank-out a bunch of original content and have pivoted from making shows based on Marvel characters to ones from Millarworld, after buying a bulk of the TV/film rights to Mark Millar’s (creator of Kick-Ass and Kingsman) comics. One of the first projects to go into production is a series adaptation of Millar’s Jupiter’s Legacy which has Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil, Pacific Rim: Uprising) set as showrunner and will direct the first episode.
Jupiter’s Legacy centers on the world’s first generation of superheroes, who gained their powers in the 1930s. The series is set in the present day and follows the elder statesmen of the superhero world, as well as their children.
We have some news concerning the show’s production team.
HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that talented production designer Zack Grobler has joined Jupiter’s Legacy. Zack’s previous television credits include the Bad Robot series Lost and Westworld.
We’ve also learned that costume designer Lizz Wolf, who previously worked with Steven DeKnight on Pacific Rim: Uprising is expected to reunite with the director on the comic book series. Wolf’s other credits include Legendary’s Spectral (also had Weta Workshop involved), The Expendables, The Expendables 2, The Expendables 3, Creed II, and Rambo.
The show’s main cast includes Josh Duhamel as Sheldon Sampson aka The Utopian, Ben Daniels as Walter Sampson aka Brain-Wave, Leslie Bibb as Grace Sampson aka Lady Liberty, Elena Kampouris as Chloe Sampson, and Andrew Horton as Brandon Sampson.
Jupiter’s Legacy will begin filming in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 24th and will now complete filming on December 4th.
Netflix has yet to give the series an official drop date, but 2020 is a good bet to make.
