Netflix has a bunch of Mark Millar projects in various development from series to feature films. There is now an update about their upcoming feature film based on the new Millar comic titled Prodigy.
Daniel Richtman has posted a casting grid on his Patreon page suggesting that Netflix is “interested” in casting Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Without Remorse) in the lead role of Edison Crane.
The film’s script is being written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, who recently wrote Marvel’s new franchise entry Eternals.
Here is comic book’s synopsis via Netflix, who also publishes it.
In Prodigy, the world’s smartest man isn’t content with running the world’s most successful business. His brilliant mind needs constant challenge and so he’s become the go-to guy for governments around the world when a problem arises they just can’t handle. A Nobel-Prize winning scientist, a genius composer, an Olympic-level athlete and an expert in the occult, Edison Crane is as addicted to the mysteries of the world as he is to sitting at the top of the Fortune 500. These are the tales of the world’s most exceptional man and this story marks his first published adventure.
However, a studio being interested doesn’t always mean that specific actor will land the role in the end.
Jordan recently took on the role of John Clark for Paramount’s Without Remorse and Rainbow Six, a spinoff franchise set within Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan universe.
Other successful projects based on the work of Mark Millar include Kick-Ass and Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman franchise.
A director, filming locations, and production dates weren’t mentioned.
