District 9 director Neill Blomkamp has posted updates regarding his upcoming Robocop Returns film, including dishing on the current script and a confirmation on the classic suit being used.

The filmmaker took to Twitter to answer questions from fans when he discussed the status of his Robocop film. Our very own Nicholas Whitcomb asked Blomkamp for an update, he revealed that the script is currently being written. He also let his fans know that he is planning on bringing back the iconic suit used by Peter Weller in the original films.

Blomkamp assured that watching the sequel would be like watching a follow up from Paul Verhoeven, the man who directed the very first film. It can be expected that the new flick will have a similar tone and feel, utilizing graphic violence and language to its max potential.

After the poorly received 2014 reboot starring Joel Kinnaman, it is reassuring that the franchise will be going back to its roots to course correct.

Robocop Returns is currently being overseen by director Neill Blomkamp and screenwriter Justin Rhodes (Terminator: Dark Fate). We previously interviewed Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, the screenwriters of the original sequel script, where they revealed details on their take on the sequel. The script has since been given to Blomkamp and co. but it is not clear if it will be used at this point.
