Deadline recently revealed that writer-director Neil Burger (Limitless) was looking to make a science fiction version of Lord of The Flies with his film Voyagers. Adding that casting is well underway having already cast Colin Farrell, Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One, Dark Phoenix, Fionn Whitehead (Black Mirror, Dunkirk), Lily-Rose Depp, and Keean Johnson (Alita: Battle Angel).

Thriller about 30 children who are sent on a multi-generational mission to populate a new planet. After the captain [Farrell] of the mission is killed in mysterious circumstances, the young crew descends into chaos, aligning themselves into tribes as they surrender to their most feral impulses.

HN Entertainment has learned that filming on Voyagers could begin June 17th in Romania, we assume in Bucharest. There are expected to be other locations used for the film as well.

Others in the mix for roles include Mudbound’s Kelvin Harrison, Games of Thrones’ Isaac Hempstead Wright, Chanté Adams, and Madison Hu.

A release date for Voyagers has yet to be made official, but sometime in 2020 is a good bet depending on the level of visual effects needed.
