We’re excited to see the direction of Marvel’s introduction of Kamala Khan, a female Pakistani-American Muslim teenager superhero that idolizes Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel and happens to be an Inhuman.

TheHollywoodReporter revealed that Bisha K. Ali would be the showrunner.

The latest incarnation, and the one the show will be focusing on, is a teenager named Kamala Khan. Khan broke ground by becoming Marvel’s first Muslim character to lead her own comics title. Her identity as a Pakistani-American living in a religious family in New Jersey whilst trying to find her own way has been a major focus of the stories. Her powers have been described as polymorphous, meaning she has the ability to stretch and change her shape.

Charles Murphy had previously suggested that the upcoming Ms Marvel series from Marvel Studios was targeting an April production start, which doesn’t seem to be the case as new information is pointing more in the direction of a summer start.

TheIlluminerdi (connected to ThatHashtagShow) seemingly has gotten ahold of production information that filming could begin in August, not April.

Interestingly, one of our sources close to the project let us know that whoever is being cast has to be available to film between July 2020 and June 2021.

According to a report late last year, Ms. Marvel was thought to start shooting in April of this year. It seems that’s no longer the case, as the shooting start date is now slated for the month of August. More importantly, the Ms. Marvel shoot is only expected to last about four months. So, there is still about eight months of unaccounted time.

Casting for main roles in Ms Marvel has been underway for a while now but Marvel Studios has yet to announce who will be playing Kamala Khan in the show.

We also haven’t learned who will direct the series.

The project will be shooting under the working title of Jersey, a nod to Kamala’s residence in New Jersey.

I’ve previously suggested on Twitter that I wouldn’t be shocked if WandaVision (S.W.O.R.D. and Monica Rambeau) and Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) shows will lead directly into Captain Marvel 2.

Marvel hasn’t made any official announcements concerning Captain Marvel 2, but WandaVision’s Megan McDonnell has been hired to write the sequel’s script and search for a new female director is reportedly underway.

There have been some previous rumblings that The Inhumans could be getting a reboot in the show (which would mean within the MCU as well), but that has yet to be confirmed.

Marvel Studios is currently shooting The Falcon & The Winter Soldier (Tag Team), WandaVision (Big Red), and Loki (The Architect) series in Atlanta, Georgia.

We still don’t know when Disney plans on releasing episodes of Ms Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
