Marvel Studios is going to be giving fans the first leading Muslim superhero with Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, a live-action streaming series that would be airing on Disney+ and directly part of Marvel Cinematic Universe canon.
The series was recently announced at D23 Expo 2019 alongside She-Hulk and Moon Knight (working title Good Faith), well, it looks like it could be the first of the three to shoot according to new information.
DiscussingFilm is posting what looks to be a possible idea when Ms. Marvel could begin production, suggesting a barebones September start next year.
We have learned that the Disney+ Ms Marvel series is eyeing to begin filming in September 2020.
Keep in mind, this is very early production grid information and a lot can happen over a year without set production dates/castings/locations, it’s more of a possibility at the moment and if everything goes well could come together.
Another show could take the spot or delays could see it start further in the fall/winter.
Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and Funeral) will be the series showrunner and writer.
It remains to be seen if Khan’s Inhumans connections will be explored in the series or will be reworked to be a mutant instead.
The Disney+ shows are expected to have impacts on future films. I’m wondering given that Kamala’s admiration of Captain Marvel if Brie Larson will cameo on the show and if Khan could later appear in Captain Marvel 2.
Other MCU shows at Disney+ include The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, and an animated anthology titled What-If.
If this turns out true, that may mean that Ms. Marvel could be airing sometime in 2022 on Disney+.
