Paramount Pictures has settled on release dates for their next two Mission: Impossible films that will be written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who previously gave us Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
Deadline now reports that Mission: Impossible 7 will release on July 23rd, 2021 and Mission: Impossible 8 will be out in theaters on August 5th, 2022.
Tom Cruise, of course, is expected to reprise his role of Ethan Hunt. It’s also assumed that franchise regulars such as Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Frost and Simon Pegg’s Benji Dunn would be returning too. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that Angela Bassett, Ving Rhames, and Vanessa Kirby will be back as well.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout has become the largest global earner in the franchise totaling an impressive $791 million, which likely was a big reason Paramount wanted to quickly get Christopher McQuarrie signed-on to make two more installments without any too much delay.
Production on Mission: Impossible 7 is said to be eyeing a possible late 2019 start when there are production dates/locations available we will update with that information.
The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.
