A new casting rumor for Shang-Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings has made it’s way online yesterday via TheWeeklyPlanetPodcast, which is being backed-up by ComicBook.

The new rumor suggests that actor star Michelle Yeoh is circling a role in the Marvel Studios action film starring Simu Liu, Awkawfina, and Tony Leung as the real version of The Mandarin.

Yeoh is likely best known for roles in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Police Story 3: Super Cop, Tomorrow Never Dies, Sunshine, and most recently in Star Trek: Discovery.

Keep in mind, this has yet to be announced by Marvel or trade.

Yeoh recently played Aleta Ogord in a button scene for Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2, she wouldn’t be the first actress to have a small role in the MCU to be given a bigger one later on.

Her Crazy Rich Asians co-star Gemma Chan was featured in Captain Marvel only to land a bigger role in Eternals playing the lead role of Sersi.

Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing the film with a script penned by Dave Callaham (The Expendables, Wonder Woman 1984).

Shang-Chi will be primarily filming this year at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, Australia.

HN Entertainment first reported that film’s working title will be Steamboat during the shoot.

It was said to begin shooting this month, but an official announcement concerning he start of production has yet to be made.

The Marvel Studios flick is set for release on February 12th, 2021.
