Collider was able to sit down with actor Michael Douglas, who revealed to them not only will he be reprising the role of Dr. Hank Pym in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man 3, but they’ll also begin production on the film sometime in January of 2021.
DOUGLAS: “The Marvel world has really been a blast! I love them I’m having a great time.”
“We’re starting a third one beginning in January of .”
That is exciting news and also a little shocking that Marvel Studios still hasn’t officially announced that the project even exists.
Even after trade reports that director Peyton Reed is now on board to direct the third installment.
Douglas’ return isn’t terribly shocking as we’ve assumed this would happen along with Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lily as Hope van Dayne/The Wasp, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, and Emma Fuhrmann back as the older Cassie Lang.
There is a good shot that we could see them explore the Quantum Realm again and there have been rumblings that Cassie Lang could get a bit of spotlight as her superhero persona Stature (leading to rumors of Young Avengers being introduced).
I’m also slightly curious if we’ll see the return of Laurence Fishburne’s Bill Foster aka Goliath and Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr aka Ghost.
Once we get more information we’ll certainly post updates on the upcoming Marvel sequel.
Ant-Man 3 is currently without an official release date. However, this would likely suggest a release date in 2022.
Scott Lang is grappling with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. Approached by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym, Lang must once again don the Ant-Man suit and fight alongside the Wasp. The urgent mission soon leads to secret revelations from the past as the dynamic duo finds itself in an epic battle against a powerful new enemy.
