Marvel Studios concept artist and visual department head Andy Park has revealed new concept artwork from Avengers: Endgame via his official Instagram account.
The sequence is from the final battle where a bulk of the female heroes come together giving fans a nod to A-Force, an all-female superhero team in the comic books (something we could eventually see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
You can see the artwork below which includes Valkyrie, Wasp, Rescue, Gamora, Nebula, Mantis, Scarlet Witch, Shuri, Okoye, Nakia, and Captain Marvel being the centric hero in the image as the group of ladies kick the ass of Thanos’ army of Outriders.
The original Instagram post includes a video that shows off the artwork in a bigger scale.
A handful of actresses have approached Kevin Feige about making a female-driven team-up film, potentially being A-Force. Brie Larson (via Variety) and Feige have mentioned publicly the idea stemming from the set during that sequence and Marvel seems to be open to it.
LARSON: “I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ‘We are in this together, we want to do this.”
“What that means, I have no idea. You know, I’m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we’re really passionate about and we love and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it’ll happen.”
It’ll be interesting to see how things move forward with the next event film as the studio is slowly giving us members of Young Avengers and The Ultimates, as both teams are seemingly being set up in Phase 4 (possibly to get their own movies down the line).
At CCXP 2019 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Kevin Feige revealed to Omelete they’re already planning the next event film.
FEIGE: “The MCU is connected but we really only focus on one movie at a time. We’re going to make the best Black Widow we can possibly make the best Eternals we can make the next [is] Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, right? And keep evolving their stories and seeing them come together in a master plan. Which I promise you is well underway.”
How A-Force factors in the future of the MCU remains to be seen.
Avengers: Endgame would go on to become the highest-grossing film of all time (unadjusted) earning an impressive $2.797 billion, surpassing James Cameron’s first Avatar installment (four sequels are on the horizon).
Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers — Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Bruce Banner — must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos — the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.
