A tidbit we missed during the recent reveal that Zoe Kravitz (Max Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class) would be playing Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman is another screenwriter has joined the DC Comics film.
It was mentioned by trades including Deadline that rising screenwriter Mattson Tomlin is credited working on the script with Reeves, something I don’t believe has been previously added in recent reports for the film.
Tomlin himself said on Twitter the experience was “a literal dream come true”.
Co-writing THE BATMAN with @mattreevesLA has been a life altering experience and a literal dream come true. I can’t wait for you to see what he has planned for the World’s Greatest Detective!

Tomlin’s latest projects have been more in the realm of science fiction with Little Fish starring Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One) and Jack O’Connell (Unbroken, ’71, Godless) along with an untitled Netflix sci-fi film starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Looper) and Jamie Foxx (Miami Vice, Django Unchained, Baby Driver).
The rest of the Batman cast includes Robert Pattinson (Tenet, The Lighthouse) as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale, No Time To Die, Westworld) as Commissioner James Gordon, and Jonah Hill in talks to play either The Riddler or The Penguin.
Batman will be shooting next year at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England.
The first installment in a potential new Batman trilogy has been given a release date of June 25th, 2021.
