TheHollywoodReporter has learned that Matthew Vaughn’s production company Marv Films, behind the recent Elton John flick Rocketman and the upcoming Kingsman prequel The King’s Man is developing a new Christmas movie.
The project will star Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit) and Keira Knightley (The Intimidation Theory) with Roman’s mother Camille Griffin writing/directing the untitled film.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the 12-year-old Golden Globe nominee is to star alongside Keira Knightley in an upcoming Christmas film. The as-yet-untitled project is meaning produced by Matthew Vaughn’s Marv Films, the company behind the Kingsman franchise, alongside Trudie Styler. Griffin Davis’ mother, writer/director Camille Griffin is set to direct the film from her own script.
This is certainly interesting to see Marv Films move away from biopics like Rocketman and Eddie The Eagle, which has been their bread-and-butter outside of the comic book stuff (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman).
Vaughn is currently in post-production phase with King’s Man set to be released on September 18th and there has been chatter for months that Kingsman 3 aka Kingsman: The Great Game has been greenlit by 20th Century Fox/Disney with Filth director Jon S. Baird circling the project.
In October, franchise star Taron Egerton told an audience at Ace Universe Comic-Con that a script exists and the plan is to make another one. It’s been said the film will be the final adventure for Eggsy and Colin Firth’s Harry.
EGERTON: “I’m really not allowed to say anything, but there is a script and it’s a really neat idea.”
“The plan at the moment is that we’ll do another one. That’s what we’d like to do.”
The X-Men: First Class director has also teased his interest in rebooting The Fantastic Four for Marvel Studios, taking Marvel’s first family and placing them in the 1960s.
It’s interesting to see Roman tackle a Christmas movie as his Jojo Rabbit co-star Archie Yates had been recently cast in Fox/Disney’s Home Alone reboot.
