Piggybacking on the wave of casting announcements revealed by TheDailyMail yesterday, Deadline has added alongside confirmations that veteran American character actor Stanley Tucci (Hunger Games, Captain America: The First Avenger, Spotlight) has joined the film with Game of Thrones actor Robert Aramayo (played young Ned Stark in flashback scenes) nabbing a part as well.
The Great Game is a prequel film taking place after the events of World War I aka The Great War, in the wake of war and loss of life the Kingsman are formed to help protect the world. Matthew Vaughn wrote the film’s script with his writing partner Jane Goldman, who is ramping up production on the first season of The Long Night for HBO (their first Game of Thrones spinoff series).
The rest of the cast includes Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List, Skyfall, Bond 25), Harrison Dickinson, Gemma Arterton (RocknRolla, Clash of The Titans), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, Alien 3), Daniel Bruhl, Aaron Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Kick-Ass), Djimon Hounsou (Shazam!, Guardians of The Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Gladiator), Matthew Goode (Watchmen), and Tom Hollander.
Filming began last month at Longcross Studios with Layer Cake’s Ben Davis (Guardians of The Galaxy, Captain Marvel) set as the film’s cinematographer.
Kingsman 3 is still happening but will be shot later on as the two films are said to be filming back-to-back.
20th Century Fox had originally set the film’s release date for November 8th, but there is a good chance it might be bumped to another date. Kingsman: The Great Game and Kingsman 3 will be some of the first R-rated feature films to be released by Fox while under the Disney umbrella.
