While recently speaking with DigitalSpy, director Matthew Vaughn revealed there are still plans to shoot Kingsman 3 suggesting it would be the final chapter of the relationship between Taron Egerton’s Eggsy and Colin Firth’s Harry. Also, revealing he hopes to begin filming the third installment in late 2019 or early next year.
“We’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship,” he said. “The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we’ve got ready to do, and I’m hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year.”
I would assume that Kingsman 3 could be aiming for a release date in early 2021, but that depends on when filming actually starts.
Vaughn is currently still working on Kingsman: The Great Game aka The Outfit, a prequel that would tackle the origins of the secret agency after the wake of WWI. The period action film stars Harrison Dickinson, Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Daniel Bruhl, Charles Dance, Stanley Tucci, Aaron Johnson, Djimon Hounsou, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Alexandra Maria Lara, and Joel Basman.
I’m slightly curious if they hope to move forward with another trilogy with Eggsy or pivot towards Statesmen and sequels to The Great Game instead.
20th Century Fox recently gave The Great Game a release date of February 14th, 2020.
