Director Matt Reeves has taken to Twitter to announce that character actor John Turturro will play Gotham mafia villain Carmine Falcone in The Batman.

John Turturro recently got some attention for his role as a defence lawyer in the HBO series The Night Of.
Carmine aka The Roman is the leader of the Falcone Crime Family and could play a rather large role in The Batman given his involvement with crime in Gotham. It’ll be interesting to see how he factors in with other villains such as The Penguin, The Riddler, and Harvey Dent aka Two-Face.
I’m slightly curious if the film will be taking cues from The Long Halloween.
The cast so far includes Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse, Tenet) as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class) as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, No Time To Die) as Police Commissioner Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (Dawn of The Planet of The Apes, Lord of The Rings, Black Panther) as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano (Looper, There Will Be Blood, Prisoners) as Edward Nashton aka The Riddler, and Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, The Lobster, Miami Vice) as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin.
Newcomer Jayme Lawson was reportedly taking an unknown role in the film as well.
The film is said to be the first installment in a brand new trilogy which was co-written by director Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin.
The Batman will begin shooting next year at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England with a release date of June 25th, 2021.
