Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson’s action flick Kate has officially begun production according to a new press release from Netflix.
After she’s irreversibly poisoned, a ruthless criminal operative has less than 24 hours to exact revenge on her enemies and in the process forms an unexpected bond with the daughter of one of her past victims.
They’ve also added a handful of new cast members which include Mortal Kombat and Thor franchise actor Tadanobu Asano.
Michiel Huisman (The Haunting of Hill House), Tadanobu Asano (Thor: Ragnarok, Mortal Kombat, Midway), Jun Kunimura (Rain), Miyavi Lee Ishihara (Unbroken, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil), and newcomer Miku Martineau join Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson.
HN Entertainment can confirm that Miku Martineau is playing the supporting lead role of Ani, a Yakuza princess that is kidnapped by Kate (Winstead) and is along for the ride while Kate gets her revenge.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will direct with stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio (Birds of Prey, Deadpool 2, John Wick: Chapter 3) handling the action sequences.
Kate will also have 87North’s David Leitch and Kelly McCormick as part of the producing team.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead most recently played DC Comics’ Huntress in the Margot Robbie movie Birds of Prey which is due to be released on February 7th, 2020.
Netflix has yet to give Kate an official release date.
