It looks like Thor: Love & Thunder will be getting another screenwriter.
Variety reports that recent Oscar-winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok) will be getting some help on the film’s script with Someone Great screenwriter Jennifer Kaytin Robinson being tapped by Marvel Studios to work some magic with some rewrites.
Sources tell Variety that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who wrote and directed the Netflix pic “Someone Great,” has joined Waititi to work on the script prior to its production start date later this year.
Production on the fourth Thor installment is said to begin this August at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia after Shang-Chi wraps production there.
Details are scarce at the moment but there is talk that Christian Bale might be playing an “intergalactic villain”, which doesn’t narrow down the potential character options given that Asgardians are intergalactic heroes.
However, at the end of Avengers: Endgame we saw that Valkyrie was made the King of New Asgard in Norway and husky Thor was on the Benatar with the Guardians of The Galaxy looking to join them on their adventures off-world.
It remains to be seen if the Loki Disney+ series will have direct implications to the film as it will introduce us to the Time Variance Agency as the God of Mischief tinkering with timelines could lead to Foster becoming Lady Thor or that version coming from The Multiverse.
The returning cast will include Chris Hemsworth as Thor Odinson, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster aka Lady Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie The King of New Asgard, and Taika Waititi as the lovable lug Korg.
HN Entertainment has previously revealed they’ll be shooting scenes in the United States as some point in the production and that Taika’s character Korg is expected to have a much bigger role.
Thor: Love & Thunder is set for release on November 5th, 2021.
