The next new Marvel Studios film franchise will be based on the Jack Kirby characters The Eternals and we now have a better idea where the comic book film will be shooting in the United Kingdom.
HN Entertainment has now learned that The Eternals is expected to primarily film at Pinewood Studios UK in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England.
The famous British stage location best known for Bond and Star Wars productions is currently being used for Cate Shortland’s Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and O-T Fagbenle.
The Eternals directed by Chloe Zhao will reportedly star Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden (The Bodyguard, Game of Thrones, Rocketman), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick, Men In Black: International, Silicon Valley, Stuber), and South Korean actor Dong-seok Ma (Train To Busan). Trades are reporting that Madden will play Ikaris and Jolie will play future Avenger member Sersi.
Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the comic book is set millions of years in the past, when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals, along with the villainous Deviants. The two groups battled each other throughout history. The Eternals also warred with Greek, Roman and Norse deities before leaving Earth to explore the stars.
Its script was penned by Ryan Firpo and Matt Firpo, who also wrote Margot Robbie’s upcoming Nazi-hunting thriller Ruin that will be directed by Justin Kurzel (Macbeth, Assassin’s Creed).
Filming is expected to begin this September.
A release date for The Eternals has yet to be made official by Marvel Studios, but there is a strong chance that it will land the November 6th, 2020 spot given late 2019 shoot.
