Marvel Studios has released an extended TV spot/special look for their upcoming solo film Captain Marvel, as they attempt to introduce general audiences to who the Kree and Skrulls are. A group of two warring alien races that have been at each others’ throats for thousands of years.
They start off with Elastica’s Connection, a choice 90s tune and a personal favorite of the era. Carol continues to reveal to Nick Fury some of the basic details about the Skrulls, an evil alien race that shapeshifts and that is possibly looking to invade Earth. The film certainly reminds viewers it’s set in the 1990s.
The film follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Produced by Kevin Feige and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Academy Award® winner Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou (Korath), Lee Pace (Ronan), Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Kenneth Mitchell (Joseph Danvers), with Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Jude Law.
Marvel Studios has set the release date for Captain Marvel for March 8th.
