Marvel’s ‘Runaways’ Officially Ending After Season 3

Hulu has announced via TheHollywoodReporter that Runaways season three will be the final season for the Marvel Television series.

The Disney-backed streamer on Monday announced that its upcoming third season of young adult-focused Marvel drama Runaways will be its last. The series, from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Looking for Alaska, Nancy Drew), will return Dec. 13 for its final season.

This news comes after Freeform’s Cloak & Dagger was recently canceled as well.

The Ghost Rider series was killed before cameras began rolling and Helstrom (currently filming in Vancouver) is expected to be the final series from the Jeph Loeb era.

Kevin Feige was recently promoted to Marvel’s chief creative officer and would now oversee the television division, leading to Loeb’s reported exit from the company this month.

Marvel Studios is now taking over a new wave of hard-canon shows that will help set up and impact future MCU movies. Unlike the Loeb shows that were only loosely connected to the films, these new shows will actually have a direct connection to them.

WandaVision and Loki shows are said to lead into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.

Feige also revealed last weekend that She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel would be making the jump to the big screen after their shows debut.

Fans have been holding out the hope that cancelled shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Iron Fist, Cloak & Dagger, Luke Cage, and Agents of SHIELD would carry over to Disney+. However, that has only been speculation.

I think we’re looking at future Marvel shows being created and overseen by Kevin Feige, which likely means those previous shows won’t be coming back.
