TheHollywoodReporter has now revealed that Rick & Morty writer Michael Waldon has been hired to write the pilot of Marvel Studios’ pilot for their Loki series starring Tom Hiddleston.
Loki, one of the first series that Marvel Studios will be making for Disney’s streaming service Disney+, has landed Michael Waldon as its point person. Waldron will write the pilot, act as show creator and exec produce the series.
They also reportedly give some details about the show that may see Loki showing up and influencing human history. This could be very interesting depending on the historical events they’re going to tackle.
Sources say the show will follow Loki as the trickster and shapeshifter pops up throughout human history as unlikely influencer on historical events.
A previous rumor had suggested that new actors could be hired to play Loki, while Tom Hiddleston would be relegated to a voice over. That has yet to be officially confirmed and they do mention Hiddleston is expected to reprise the role.
Tom was last seen playing Loki in Avengers: Infinity War.
Marvel Studios also has other Disney+ series in the works including Vision & Scarlet Witch from writer Jac Schaeffer (Black Widow, Captain Marvel) and their Winter Soldier/Falcon show from writer Malcolm Spellman (Empire).
Disney+ is expected to launch officially this fall.
