It doesn’t look like Kevin Feige is going to settle with simply the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

TheHollywoodReporter has learned that Feige will develop a new Star Wars movie for Kathy Kennedy and Lucasfilm.

To the surprise of no one, Kevin Feige is a huge Star Wars fan. It might surprise many, however, that the Marvel Studios president is going to be developing a Star Wars movie as Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy makes new plans for a wave of projects set in the universe, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Feige had discussed a foray into the Star Wars universe in a late-summer meeting with Kennedy and studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman, sources say. In response to a query from THR, Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn said, “We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”

They also add that Kevin seemingly has his eye on an actor to take a key role if he ends up making this Star Wars movie.

One knowledgeable source says Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play when and if he makes the movie.

Having Feige involved with the Star Wars Universe is going to be very interesting as he has been able to juggle a massive cinematic universe of his own with the MCU.

Details are scarce currently about what this film could be or who that actor might be.

We already know that Lucasfilm is taking a breather once Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker releases in December as they focus on the Disney+ shows. Those include two seasons of The Mandalorian, a Cassian Andor prequel series, and Kenobi series that will see Ewan McGregor reprise the role.

Other films in development include a brand new trilogy from Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson along with development from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

There was also a report that Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island, Ghost In The Shell, Altered Carbon, Avatar, Alita: Battle Angel) was writing a script for a Knights of The Old Republic movie that has yet to be confirmed by Lucasfilm/Disney.

It’ll be curious to see how all these projects will fit together or if that will even be considered.
