One of the least talked about MCU series coming to Disney+ is Hawkeye starring Jeremy Renner.
HN Entertainment has learned that Hawkeye will indeed shoot primarily in Atlanta, Georgia which has been recently used as a location for The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki.
There had been conflicting reports that the Hawkeye series was being delayed or pulled off the production schedule entirely, however, it sounds like they might be moving forward as planned.
A new rumor from MCUCosmic claims that Clint Barton’s brother Charles “Barney” Barton aka Trickshot and the Tracksuit Mafia will be villains in the upcoming series.
According to a very reliable source, the series will introduce Clint’s brother Barney Barton. Comic fans will know him as the anti-hero Trickshot. This is interesting as Trickshot was also a member of the Dark Avengers, potentially setting up someone who can be in the Thunderbolts project Marvel is developing.
But Clint’s brother isn’t the only problem he’ll have to deal with in the show, as the Tracksuit Draculas, otherwise known as the Tracksuit Mafia, will also reportedly appear in some way in the series.
We haven’t had any real casting news since it was reported that Hailee Steinfield (Bumblebee, True Grit) was in talks for the Kate Bishop role, but her Apple TV+ series Dickinson could end up becoming a roadblock from her joining Hawkeye.
Kate Bishop is Clint’s protege and member of the Young Avengers.
The series will see Kate being mentored by Barton.
Producer Trinh Tran has mentioned in an interview with ScreenRant it will also tackle Clint’s backstory and would be inspired by the Matt Fraction run
SCREEN RANT: You’re not done with the MCU. You’re doing the Disney + project, Hawkeye. How excited are you to explore Clint more?
TRAN: “Well, I chose that one specifically because we haven’t gotten a chance to tell Clint Barton’s story. You’ve seen Thor have several movies. You know his backstory. Cap has several movies, Tony has a few, so they’ve all had their chance, and Clint Barton hasn’t gotten a chance to tell his past. I’m excited for that, and I’m also excited that there is a young girl coming in who wants to be Hawkeye.”
SCREEN RANT: I’m a huge Kate Bishop fan.
TRAN: Are you really? [Matt] Fraction’s run is absolutely one of the most amazing things. I remember sitting there are reading through the Fraction run and going, this is amazing. This is absolutely amazing. This is something we can do. We can do this! So wanting to tell Clint’s backstory, after reading Fraction’s run and getting excited for Kate Bishop there’s something really interesting that I think the two of them can have.
Originally, Kevin Feige announced at San Diego Comic-Con they were targeting a fall 2021 release for the Hawkeye series.
There is a good chance production could begin this summer or fall given the expected release in fall 2021.
