Last week, HN Entertainment reported that Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye series was still moving forward and as assumed they would indeed be primarily filming in Atlanta, Georgia like other Disney+ shows.
We now have an update from Charles Murphy clarifying when that production might begin to start filming, as he now claims that it will begin sometime in September.
I have learned that Marvel Studios hopes to begin production on Hawkeye in September of 2020, after production begins on Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight.
The report comes after some previously conflicting information that the show’s production was being pulled off the schedule completely.
A September start would make a lot of sense as Marvel had originally announced that they were targeting a release in the fall of 2021 for Hawkeye, so a crowded summer production schedule with She-Hulk and Ms Marvel expected to also film in Atlanta could have been an issue.
Moon Knight is confirmed to be shooting at Pinewood Studios UK.
While Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, True Grit) had been reportedly offered the role of Clint Barton’s protege, Kate Bishop, back in September of last year there haven’t been any updates to her actually signing on with Marvel/Disney to join Hawkeye.
Hailee happens to be the main lead in the Apple TV+ series Dickinson which had already been given a Season 2 order and potentially could be committed to a number of seasons with the show, her schedule might be dependent on Apple and contract most certainly includes a non-complete clause concerning other streaming shows.
We’ll have to wait and see if Hailee actually plays Bishop or if Marvel moves down their list and looks at other actresses.
MCUCosmic had recently posted rumors that Clint’s Brother Charles “Barney” Barton would be a villain on the series along with the Tracksuit Mafia.
It remains to be seen if Hawkeye will stick to that fall 2021 drop date or will be bumped-up to the summer of 2021 like The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.
