Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has officially announced that Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2 and Avengers: Infinity War actress Pom Klementieff has joined her fellow MCU alumni Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger, Agent Carter) as a new addition to the cast of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8.
McQuarrie made the official announcement on his Instagram account and teased the French-Canadian actress might be playing a femme fatale in the two movies.
Filming is expected to begin sometime next year with the primary stage location to be Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England (where the last two McQuarrie films shot).
Both sequels will be shot back-to-back and are pretty much going to be a single story split between two installments.
Rebecca Ferguson is also returning as MI6 Agent Ilsa Faust.
Pom is best known for playing the role of Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and according to writer/director James Gunn will be returning for Guardians of The Galaxy 3.
Paramount has given the two Mission: Impossible sequels release dates of July 23rd, 2021 and August 5th, 2022.
Tom Cruise’s next big film will be Top Gun: Maverick (June 26th, 2020) and director Doug Liman is hoping that he’ll be ready to shoot WB’s Edge of Tomorrow sequel once the Mission: Impossible films are completed.
