While Martin Scorsese is set to begin shooting Killers of The Flower Moon next month starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, he’s reportedly already figured-out what he’ll do after that film.
Deadline reports that Marty will be reuniting with the legendary screenwriter Paul Schrader on the thriller The Card Counter.
This would make their fifth project together after working on Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Last Temptation Of Christ and Bringing Out The Dead.
The film stars Oscar Isaac with Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan and Willem Dafoe also in roles. An excellent cast that seems like they could handle Paul’s dialogue and Marty’s direction.
Centers on card player Tell (Isaac) whose spartan existence on the casino trail is shattered when he is approached by Cirk (Sheridan), an angry young man seeking help to execute his plan for revenge on a military colonel (Dafoe).
Gaining backing from mysterious gambling financier La Linda (Haddish), Tell takes Cirk with him on the road, going from casino to casino until the unlikely trio set their sights on winning a World Series of poker tournament.
The film is currently being sold at the European Film Market in Berlin, Germany.
It’ll be interesting to see if Netflix attempted to pick-up another Martin Scorsese film after The Irishman or if he’ll attempt to get a more traditional theatrical distribution.
