During San Deigo Comic-Con, we learned from Black Panther actress Danai Gurira that writer/director Ryan Coogler told her Okoye would be returning for the untitled sequel.
Now, Martin Freeman who plays C.I.A. Agent Everett Ross tells Collider in a new interview that he will also be back for Black Panther 2.
FREEMAN: “As far as I know, I will be [returning].”
“As far as I know, I will be in another Black Panther. That’s my understanding. As to when that will happen, I don’t know.”
Kevin Feige revealed not too long ago to BET that Black Panther 2 is only in the early script/story development stages.
FEIGE: “The honest answer to that is that is pure rumor and speculation because Mr. Coogler is just only in recent weeks sitting down at his keyboard and beginning to outline the movie. It’s early, so nothing is set yet in any way that far, because Mr. Coogler is sitting down and will share it with Nate Moore and myself in coming weeks.”
The assumption is that it won’t be ready until Phase 5, which likely has a lot to do with the billion-dollar success of the first installment and possibly amp-up a Ultimates lineup.
Black Panther 2 is without an official release date, but there is an expectation it’ll get a release date in 2022-2023.
