It looks like Amazon is casting their roles for the Lord of The Rings series and Variety reports that Markella Kavenagh is in talks to take the first role, this would suggest that the part is a lead role.
Variety has learned from multiple sources that Markella Kavenagh is in talks for a role in the upcoming epic fantasy series. Details of Kavenagh’s characters are being kept under wraps, but sources say she would be playing a character named Tyra.
The series has been confirmed by Amazon to take place during the Second Age of Middle-Earth way before the events of The Hobbit and the Lord of The Rings novels. It will be before the events of the defeat of Lord Sauron and see a very different version of Middle-Earth with kingdoms/locations that haven’t been previously explored in the Peter Jackson films.
The first two episodes will be helmed by J.A. Bayona with a writing team that includes Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones, Sword In The Stone) along with the screenwriting duo of John D. Payne and Patrick McKay (Flash Gordon, Star Trek 4, Star Trek Beyond).
I’m slightly curious if the series will cover the creation of the Rings of Power.
