In a surprising turn of events, Marilyn Manson has joined the CBS All Access adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.
The singer/songwriter revealed the news himself during an interview with Revolver, where he confirmed he would not only act in the upcoming series but also contribute to the soundtrack.
“Shooter [Jennings] and I also did a cover of ‘The End’ by the Doors, for a new miniseries of The Stand by Stephen King, which I’m also going to be acting in.”
Manson has been acting for years now, appearing in shows like Sons of Anarchy and Salem. He recently starred in the indie film Let Me Make You a Martyr, and is set to show up on the Young Pope’s second season starring Jude Law. Although no details regarding his role were disclosed, one should expect he has more than just a cameo.
Josh Boone, the director and writer of the upcoming series, has been developing the Stephen King adaptation for years now. He initially planned on doing a series of films but has not opted to make it a show for CBS with an all-star cast.
After a deadly plague kills most of the world’s population, the remaining survivors split into two groups – one led by a benevolent elder and the other by a maleficent being – to face each other in a final battle between good and evil.
The CBS All Access series stars James Marsden as Stu Redman, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Henry Zaga as Nick Andros, and Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith. The series will begin principal photography this September in Vancouver with director/writer Josh Boone at the helm.
The Stand is set to hit CBS All Access in 2020.
