While it looks like we’ll have a bit of wait before James Gunn returns to the Guardians of The Galaxy franchise after being rehired by Disney, he’ll be busy with WB’s The Suicide Squad expected to begin filming this film in Atlanta, Georgia.
It sounds like things are heating up as they could be already starting up the crew hires according to new information. Suicide Squad stunt coordinator Guy Norris (Ghost In The Shell, Mad Max: Fury Road) is looking like he’ll be returning for Gunn’s The Suicide Squad via a new tweet by DiscussingFilm.

It’ll be interesting how much of returning crew members we’ll be seeing but certainly, the last Suicide Squad film’s action sequences weren’t terribly memorable and there is an expectation James Gunn might getting Norris to amp-up things.
British actor Idris Elba has recently replaced Will Smith as Deadshot and a slew of new characters are reportedly on the horizon, with a producer suggesting the film isn’t exactly a direct sequel to the David Ayer film. Those new characters reported by Collider include Otis Flannegan aka Ratcatcher, Nanaue aka King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker (might be played by Dave Bautista).
Margot Robbie is currently filming Birds of Prey and there has been an expectation she’ll reprise the role of Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad as well.
Warner Bros. has already slated the release date for The Suicide Squad on August 6th, 2021.
