Lionsgate and Grindstone Entertainment have officially renewed their partnership. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Lionsgate President Ron Schwartz. The new deal extends a successful 12-year relationship between the two companies to continue delivering feature films for theaters and streaming services.
Below are the upcoming feature films coming from the pair of companies mentioned in the official press release:
- Force of Nature – An action thriller starring Mel Gibson, Emile Hirsch, and Kate Bosworth
- Rogue – A thriller starring Megan Fox (Transformers, Jessica’s Body)
- Guest House – A comedy starring Pauly Shore, Aimee Teegarden, Mike Castle, and Steve-O
- Hair of the Dog – A thriller starring Gerard Butler (Olympus has Fallen, 300)
Lionsgate President Ron Schwartz said that Grindstone has had an extensive title catalog over the 12-year partnership.
SCHWARTZ: “This extension continues a longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship for both our companies […] Barry and Stan are the best in the business and have built Grindstone into a home for great talent, exciting properties and a source of consistent profitability. We look forward to expanding our partnership with one of the most innovative and recognizable brands in the multiplatform streaming space.”
But if you think this partnership is only looking at the theatrical releases, that surely isn’t the case. Grindstone Entertainment President Barry Brooker and principal Stan Wertlieb tease an extended presence in the streaming entertainment space.
Brooker and Wertlieb: “Our relationships with leading producers, filmmakers and stars continue to drive our ability to distinguish ourselves as innovators in the current streaming environment, and we will continue to pivot to take advantage of the marketplace. We will also continue to pursue a more global approach to our business as we work strategically with top content creators around the world.”
Grindstone’s recent releases aren’t huge titles but they certainly fill a void for those seeking out smaller-scaled genre films.
Some of their titles include the last two installments of the Escape Plan franchise, Escape Plan 2: Hades and Escape Plan 3: The Extractors, starring Sylvester Stallone, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Dave Bautista. Also, the thriller The Poison Rose, starring John Travolta, Morgan Freeman, Famke Janssen, and Brendan Fraser.
HN Entertainment will update as soon as any new announcements are made.
