HN Entertainment has learned that production designer Alex Holmes has joined the production team of Leigh Whannell’s Invisible Man remake for Blumhouse and Universal.

Alex’s credits include the Jennifer Kent films The Babadook and the upcoming revenge thriller The Nightingale.

While researching a new drug, Dr. Jack Griffin (Claude Rains) stumbles on a potion that can make him invisible. When he reveals his new ability to his old mentor (Henry Travers) and his fiancée (Gloria Stuart), it’s clear that a side effect of the potion is insanity. Jack goes on a violent rampage, and the police struggle to hunt him down, unable to see their target, while his mentor and his former partner (William Harrigan) desperately try to devise a plan to capture him.

The cast so far includes actresses Elisabeth Moss (The Kitchen, The Handmaid’s Tale) and Storm Reid (A Wrinkle In Time).

The Invisible Man was originally going to star Johnny Depp and be part of a Universal Monsters cinematic universe called Dark Universe, but when The Mummy failed to get people enthused the studio pivoted handing over the project to Blumhouse and filmmaker Leigh Whannell (Upgrade).

Filming is said to begin next month in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Universal Pictures has set Invisible Man’s release date for March 13th, 2020.
