USWeekly is reporting a new rumor that Warner Bros. has offered Oscar-nominee Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) a role in their upcoming remake of the hit musical Little Shop of Horrors, nudging the idea that this could be the part of Audrey.
A new Monster may be coming to Warner Brothers! Lady Gaga is ready to make her return to the big screen in the studio’s Little Shop of Horrors reboot, a source exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
Although Gaga’s role has yet to be confirmed, the likely choice for the star is the role of Audrey, who works in a flower shop with Seymour, a guy who discovers a plant that feeds on human flesh and blood.
We’re going to keep this one under the rumor tent for the moment.
There is a good chance that movie will end up R-rated given the violence and gore, the alien planet Audrey II needs human blood to survive and as it grows starts to eat body parts of corpses.
Given the fact that the film is a musical looking for established musical artists that act to take roles wouldn’t be a terrible idea.
The musical is expected to primarily shoot in Los Angeles, California as the project was approved for a hefty $9+ million tax credit from the state.
Little Shop of Horrors will be directed by Greg Berlanti and has yet to secure an official release date.
The original Roger Corman film from 1960 featured an unknown Jack Nicholson and was eventually remade by director Frank Oz in 1986, the version most people know.
Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
