The New Zealand leg of the shoot for the Avatar sequels is set to begin this month and there is another casting announcement coming from the franchise’s official Twitter account.
They’ve now revealed that New Zealand actor Jemaine Clement has taken the role of Pandora marine biologist Dr. Garvin. Jemaine is best known for projects such as What We Do In The Shadows, Men In Black 3, Legion, and Eagle vs Shark. I’m slightly curious if he’ll be just bringing some added humor to the films or taking more of a villainous role.

Disney/Fox recently delayed the sequels as their new release dates are as follows.
- Avatar 2 – December 17th, 2021
- Avatar 3 – December 22nd, 2023
- Avatar 4 – December 19th, 2025
- Avatar 5 – December 17th, 2027
The cast is expected to grow in the coming weeks but the main cast so far includes Kate Winslet, Sam Worthington, Cliff Curtis, Zoe Salanda, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Yeoh, Oona Chaplin, Edie Falco, and Brandan Cowell.
What we know so far about the upcoming films is that they will tackle the exploration of the oceans of Pandora. I’m really hoping that James Cameron really reaches for the next level of motion capture and special effects with these films as he’s been hyping them for almost a decade and we’re still two years away from seeing Avatar in theaters.
