HN Entertainment has learned that supervising art director Doug Meerdink has joined the production team of Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Great Game, that already has Captain Marvel cinematographer Ben Davis (Layer Cake, Guardians of The Galaxy) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle production designer Darren Gilford (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Tron: Legacy, Oblivion).
Doug’s film credits include Kong: Skull Island, Jurassic World, Cloverfield, Jurassic Park III, Ocean’s Thirteen, The Italian Job, Downsizing, and War of The Worlds.
The Great Game is a prequel taking place after the events of World War I/The Great War, in the wake of war and loss of life the Kingsman are formed to help protect the world. Director Matthew Vaughn wrote the film’s script with writing partner Jane Goldman, the duo previously worked on the last two installments together along with X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass.
Jane Goldman is currently showrunning HBO’s The Long Night, their first Game of Thrones spin-off series that will be a prequel focusing on the origins of the white walkers.
Kingsman 3 is still expected to go into production once The Great Game is finished filming.
The fantastic cast of The Great Game includes Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List, Skyfall, Bond 25), Harrison Dickinson, Gemma Arterton (RocknRolla, Clash of The Titans), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, Alien 3), Daniel Bruhl, Aaron Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Kick-Ass), Djimon Hounsou (Shazam!, Guardians of The Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Gladiator), Matthew Goode (Watchmen), Stanley Tucci (Spotlight, Hunger Games, Captain America: The First Avenger), Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones), and Tom Hollander (Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tells, Hanna).
Filming began last month and is taking place at Longcross Studios in Surrey, England.
Kingsman: The Great Game may stick to the November 8th release date that 20th Century Fox had reserved, but more likely will be moved to another spot.
