We’ve been strongly curious if Warner Bros. is truly considering more Mad Max movies after a rumor was making the rounds not too long that suggested they were.
Well, there is a slightly more official word from the studio about their current interest along with the Matrix franchise. While speaking with the LATimes, Warner Bros. chief executive of film and television Kevin Tsuijhara mentions they are still very much interested in franchises like The Matrix and would “love to work with” George Miller on future Mad Max titles within that franchise.
What else are you looking to reboot? People always ask about “The Matrix.”
We have incredible franchises on the features side such as “The Matrix.” We’d love to work with George Miller on furthering the “Mad Max” franchise.
There had been chatter that the studio was considering attempting to reboot The Matrix and while George Miller has penned two scripts as follow-ups to Max Mad: Fury Road a lawsuit over bonuses from Fury Road has hindered those movies from going into production. Miller had been approached for movies like Akira only to reportedly make an epic tale titled A Thousand Years of Longing starring Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba his next project.
Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy seemed game for more movies (even if they’d like want to avoid sharing scenes with each other). I know I’m still interested in seeing them explore the rest of the post-apocalyptic world as Miller is able to reinvent this franchise which each new installment.
