Despite theories and suggestions that Black Panther 2 is going to be ready to shoot soon, Kevin Feige has revealed that they haven’t even read an outline and won’t for weeks.
While speaking with BET, Feige says that writer/director Ryan Coogler has only recently started writing the outline for Black Panther 2. This would mean they don’t even have a draft of the script and they’re trying to break the film’s story with an outline. Marvel hasn’t even seen the finished outline as he points out.
Kevin also debunked recent talk that Michael B. Jordan’s villain Killmonger would be coming back.
BET: One last future question. There is a rumor that Killmonger will be returning for Black Panther 2. Any truth to that?
FEIGE: “Pure rumor. The honest answer to that is that is pure rumor and speculation because Mr. Coogler is just only in recent weeks sitting down at his keyboard and beginning to outline the movie. It’s early, so nothing is set yet in any way that far, because Mr. Coogler is sitting down and will share it with Nate Moore and myself in coming weeks.”
Feige also commented on the recent Riri Williams shout-out by Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr.
BET: Robert Downy Jr. recently gave a plug to Ironheart. What are your thoughts on RiRi Williams joining the MCU?
FEIGE: “I think it’s a great character, and it’s been fun to see how she evolves in the comics. I just saw that quote, too. But again, the future…”
Black Panther 2 was said to begin filming next year, but that would all depend on them completing a script.
