Despite lead actor Ewan McGregor saying the scripts for the Kenobi series were great, Lucasfilm has brought in a brand new screenwriter to help write the episodes that been previously worked on by Drive’s Hossein Amini.
Variety reports that script doctor Joby Harold has been tapped to help write the Star Wars series which was delayed months before the coronavirus impacted global film and television production, they mention that Amini left earlier in the year.
Joby’s feature film credits include the Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of The Sword that opened to mixed reactions (the fantasy project was expected to launch multiple installments) and Zack Snyder’s upcoming action-horror movie Army of The Dead.
He was attached to write an upcoming Transformers film for Paramount Pictures as well. Harold has also been quietly involved with projects such as Edge of Tomorrow and John Wick: Chapter 3, it’s assumed he did uncredited screenwriting work on those landing producing credits instead.
Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) is attached to direct the Kenobi series. Filming is supposed to begin next January and fingers-crossed they’ll be able to hit that start date all things considered.
The Mandalorian Season 2 has wrapped filming last month and the Cassian Andor series had been planning a summer shoot which now likely delayed.
