Comedy director Paul Feig is still trucking along with Sony’s Ghostbusters reboot in his rearview mirror. People seemed to enjoy his last directorial effort A Simple Favor and we’re excited to see him tackle a holiday comedy with his next pic Last Christmas for Universal Pictures, which will be set in London, England.
HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that the production has added cinematographer John Schwartzman. His credited include Highwaymen, Dracula: Untold, The Green Hornet, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Jurassic World, and Saving Mr. Banks. John is also expected to return to the Jurassic World franchise for the third film that will see the return of director Colin Trevorrow.
The cast of Last Christmas includes Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke, Crazy Ritch Asians/Toff Guys actor Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, and Emma Thompson.
The film set in London follows Kate (Clarke) an elf in a year-round Christmas shop, who begins dating Tom (Golding), a guy who seems too good to be true when he walks into her life and starts to see through so many of her barriers. Yeoh will play Kate’s boss “Santa” who is going through her own relationship struggles.
Filming begins Monday in London (of course) and is expected to complete in late February.
Universal Pictures has set Last Christmas’ release date for November 15th, 2019.
