TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that Jordan Peele and his production company Monkeypaw Productions have made an exclusive five-year first-look deal with Universal Pictures.
The prolific filmmaker and his Monkeypaw Productions banner have inked a five-year exclusive, first-look deal with the studio, which partnered with Peele on 2017’s Get Out and 2019’s Us. Under the pact, Universal is developing Peele’s next two films, which he will direct, write and produce.
They also included quotes from Peele about the new deal.
PEELE: “It would not have been possible to make Get Out and Us without the endless trust and support we received from Donna Langley and the team at Universal. Their willingness to take risks and their commitment to original content makes them the perfect collaborative partner for Monkeypaw. I couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead.”
Jordan Peele’s first two feature films Get Out (budget $4.5 million) and Us (budget $20 million) have made Universal a combined global box office cume of $510.5 million. So, you can completely understand why the studio is banking on Peele’s next two movies potentially having similar audience draws.
Details about these next two films directed by Jordan weren’t mentioned in the announcement, but there is an expectation they could have thriller or horror elements.
