During the first season of The Mandalorian, we only got Jon Favreau writing and producing the series he took a step back directing.
However, that looks to be different in season two.
While speaking with EntertainmentWeekly, Jon revealed that while The Lion King kept him from directing an episode of the live-action Star Wars series, but will direct one for the second season.
FAVREAU: “We’re working on season 2, writing, prepping with the directors and getting ready to direct myself, actually.”
“I didn’t get a chance the last time around because I was doing Lion King. So I’ll step in for one of them.”
HN Entertainment first reported that a second season had been greenlit ahead of the show’s season one presentation at Star Wars Celebration Chicago with Favreau expected to return. Lucasfilm and Disney have yet to make the official announcement but is expected to happen eventually.
I’m more interested to see if he’ll have an acting role in these episodes.
The Mandalorian is set to begin airing weekly on Disney+ starting on November 12th.
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. “The Mandalorian” is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
