Variety was also able to speak with actor/director Jon Favreau about at D23 Expo about the whole Spider-Man/MCU thing and he seems genuinely hopeful and optimistic about the situation potentially being ironed-out.
FAVREAU: “We’ve all read rumors, we’ve all read press releases. You never know what’s going to happen and I’m holding out hope and being optimistic. That this isn’t the final chapter of that story.”
“Cause I would love to see them continue to share the screen together and I mean Tom Holland and the characters. Spidey and the other heroes in the MCU.”

Favreau isn’t just one of the architects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also has a supporting role in the last two Marvel-made Spider-Man flicks playing Happy Hogan, who got embedded into Peter Parker’s life in the post-Endgame story that played out in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Essentially, being one of the only Spider-Man cast members to actually speak out about the behind the scenes drama.
There have been rumblings over the last day or so about something being worked out, but until there is an official word I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet.
