Legendary’s Godzilla vs Kong has begun production in Hawaii but that hasn’t stopped new casting additions. The latest casting news comes from Deadline, who reports that character actor Lance Reddick has nabbed a mysterious part in the Monsterverse crossover event film. Reddick is best known for his roles in Bosch, The Wire, and the John Wick franchise.
Looking at his previous roles in other projects, Lance feels like he’d take a military or Monarch leadership role.
The next film that pits massive kaiju against each other will be the follow up to next year’s Godzilla: King of The Monsters and will see some characters make the jump to this next production. Filming will eventually move from Hawaii towards Gold Coast, Australia within the next couple of months.
It’s expected to wrap shooting sometime between February-March.
Below is the official synopsis for Godzilla vs Kong that was recently dropped by the studio.
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
The film stars Alexander Skarsgård (“Big Little Lies,” “The Little Drummer Girl”), Millie Bobby Brown (“Stranger Things”), Rebecca Hall (“Christine,” “Professor Marston and the Wonder Women”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta,” “Widows”), Shun Oguri (“Gintama”), Eiza González (“Baby Driver”), Jessica Henwick (“Iron Fist”), Julian Dennison (“Deadpool 2”), with Kyle Chandler (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Manchester by the Sea”) and Demián Bichir (“The Nun,” “The Hateful Eight”).
