In early September, I first reported at OmegaUnderground that Hardcore Henry director Ilya Naishuller was hired to work on an upcoming action film titled Nobody and starring Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul actor Bob Odenkirk. The film was also penned by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, who will produce alongside Chad Stahelski and David Leitch.
Omega Underground has exclusively learned that Hardcore Henry director Ilya Naishuller is attached to the action thriller.
An everyday man who gets pushed past his limits. The story follows a man (Odenkirk) who comes to the defense of a woman being harassed by thugs, only to learn later that one of the men he put in the hospital is the brother of a drug kingpin, now out for vengeance.
At the end of an interview with DiscussingFilm, screenwriter Derek Kolstad confirmed the reporting that Naishuller will indeed direct adding that they hope to get filming started in the fall.
“I’m doing a movie with Bob Odenkirk and directed by Ilya Naishuller, it’s called Nobody over at Universal [Pictures].”
“It is Falling Down by way of John Wick with Bob Odenkirk, he’s in the best shape of his life right now and he’ll kick some serious ass. It’ll have humor but it’s being played straight.”
“We’ll start shooting here in the fall, we’re just finishing up the polish to the script, but that’s the next one to go.”
The project recently moved over from STX to Universal Pictures, as Leitch’s 87North Productions signed a new first-look deal with the studio and Nobody was the first project in the new deal.
