Chapter 3’ Crosses $300M Globally and ‘Toy Story 4’ Holds On To The Domestic Top Spot

The studio weekend estimates are in via BoxOfficePro and it looks like Toy Story 4 has held on with the top spot with a solid $57.9 million. Newcomers such as Annabelle Comes Home (set in the Conjuring cinematic universe) has made $20.3 million and Danny Boyle’s Beatles musical Yesterday nabbed $17 million.

  • 1. Toy Story 4 – $57.9 million
  • 2.  Annabelle Comes Home – $20.3 million
  • 3. Yesterday – $17 million
  • 4. Anna – $14.2 million
  • 5. Aladdin $9.3 million
  • 6. The Secret Life of Pets 2 – $7 million
  • 7. MIB: International – $6.5 million
  • 8. Avengers: Endgame – $5.5 million
  • 9. Child’s Play – $4.2 million
  • 10. Rocketman – $3.8 million

Lionsgate should be extremely happy as John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum added another $3.1 million as it earns an impressive $303.6 million worldwide. The third installment has now made more money at the box office than the first two movies combined.

Lionsgate has already set the release date for John Wick: Chapter 4 on May 21st, 2021.

Sadly, a lot of Marvel fans had convinced themselves that the studio’s “re-release” (the film never left theaters just got a theater count bump) of Avengers: Endgame would beat Avatar’s global take.

However, the truth of the matter is that there wasn’t a lot of interest from the general audience as the film only made $5.5 million domestically and internationally was even weaker earning about $2.3 million. It’s currently $30 million shy of the record.

Ahead of its domestic release on Tuesday, Spider-Man: Far From Home has already earned an impressive $111 million overseas.
